‘I have a dream’ is a speech delivered by Martin Luther King jr.
On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.on 28 August 1963. Here, he speaks about his dream of seeing Alabama as a developed state. It will be free of racial distinction between the white and blacks. Hundred years ago, a great American signed emancipation proclamation of Negroes. This judgement came as a great hope to millions of Negro slaves. This people were the victims of the injustice of white Americans. It came as a welcome relief as happy morning to end the long night of slavery. But even after Hundred years we feel Negro are not at all free. Negro’s life is Still crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. The Negro live lonely in the Island of poverty in the middle of the vast ocean of prosperity.
The Negro is Still languishing in the corner of American society.
It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of the Negro. This sweltering Summer of the Negro’s legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality.
It was the author’s dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of it’s creed. His dream was that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
Again, the author dream that his four children would one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character. Further his dream was that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountains shall be made low, the rough place will be made plain, and the crooked place will be made straight, and the glory of the lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
